About Us

Spirit of Grace is an Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) congregation of the Florida-Bahamas Synod.

Spirit of Grace is one congregation with two worshiping campuses – Hudson & Trinity, Florida.

We are the grace place! Ephesians 2:8 shares “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.” Our purpose statement is “the grace place to connect, grow and serve”.

We look forward to meeting you! Open Communion is practiced here and all are welcome at the Lord’s table.

Would you like to sing or play an instrument in the praise team at the Hudson campus or the worship team at the Trinity campus, be on the tech team, assist in worship, teach children about God’s love, welcome folks to worship or just soak up God’s grace? There’s a place for you here!

History of Spirit of Grace
Spirit of Grace was formed in 2008 when five ELCA congregations (All Saints, First Lutheran, Immanuel, Joyful Spirit & King of Glory) came together to see how they could work as one and become more of an active presence in the community. Pastors under call at the time of the consolidation to this new congregation were Rev. Sally Cook and Rev. Jerry Nordsiek. The five congregations voted to consolidate to become one congregation newly named Spirit of Grace with two worshiping campuses. In 2013, Rev. Dr. Rita Gardner Tweed became the Transition Lead Pastor and was called as full-time Lead Pastor in October 2016 until her retirement in August 2022. In 2016, Spirit of Grace entered into a new relationship with Superior Schools, the oversight management company at the time for Plato Academy Charter Schools.  Superior Schools purchased the property in Trinity, and in turn, would build their school and a new church building for Spirit of Grace. In 2018, CEO Steve Christopoulos tragically died upending their organization as well as the new church building progress. The passage of time has brought to fruition a newly organized Superior Schools which is no longer the oversight management company for Plato Academy. A Certificate of Occupancy for the Trinity campus new church building, with some shared use with Plato Academy, was issued in May 2021. The church office moved to the Trinity campus in July 2021.  The Trinity campus first worship service was on Reformation Sunday, 10/31/2021 and the refurbished memorial garden was rededicated the following week on All Saints Sunday, 11/7/2021.
